University of Pittsburgh

Internships

To ensure competitive job placement, the Career and Leadership Development Center (CLDC) recommends that CBA students complete three professional work experiences before graduation.

Pittsburgh provides a wealth of business opportunities and is home to numerous companies in a variety of industries. CBA is well-connected to Pittsburgh's corporate community - this translates into excellent options for internships and networking.

The CLDC dedicates resources and staff to help students take advantage of their opportunities for professional development. We work with more than 150 regional, national, and international corporations of all types. We help our corporate partners and alumni to bring internship and networking programs to students. We continually strive to provide students with the tools they need to drive their chosen career paths.

The CLDC regularly offers corporate days, company information sessions, and job shadowing opportunities. At CBA's largest annual career event, Career Conference, CBA students meet corporate representatives in a formal atmosphere to discuss upcoming career development experiences.

For current professional work-experience postings, enrolled students should check CBA SIMON on www.cbasimon.com. SIMON is a password-protected online resource for the use of CBA students, faculty, and staff.

*Notice to Prospective Students in Internships, Project, Co-Op and Other Special Courses:
Please note that activities such as internships, project and other special courses, or co-op experiences, may require that you visit and/or work at a facility external to the University of Pittsburgh, and that facility may require a criminal background check, an Act 33/34 clearance (if applicable) and perhaps a drug screen to determine whether you are qualified to participate in these activities. Additionally, in order to become licensed in particular professions (for example, certified public accounting or law), many states will inquire whether the applicant has been convicted of a misdemeanor, a felony, or a felonious or illegal act associated with alcohol and/or substance abuse.
